Finissage special exhibition village life

Saturday, February 22, 2025

Finissage “Village life. History(s) from the Radolfzell districts”

On the penultimate day of the special exhibition, two guided tours will provide insights into the history of the six villages of Böhringen, Güttingen, Liggeringen, Markelfingen, Möggingen and Stahringen. At 11.00 a.m., museum educator Jacqueline Berl will shed light on the history of the villages from the first settlers to the present day. Museum director Rüdiger Specht will show the highlights of the exhibition during the curator’s tour at 3.00 pm. Everyday life in the independent communities was characterized by hard work in agriculture and crafts. Going to church on Sundays was just as much a part of the life of the village community as the regulars’ table in the pub and voluntary work in the club. Wars and natural disasters repeatedly presented the inhabitants with challenges. Under different rulers, the settlements grew into self-sufficient communities, each with its own character and self-confidence. Various reactions to the incorporations reflect the advantages and disadvantages of municipalization.

Fee: Museum admission, free participation in guided tours.
