SUMMARY:Special exhibition Stadtmuseum: Ratoldescella - Radolfzell
DESCRIPTION:Radolfzell celebrates – and looks back on more than 1200 years of eventful history. To mark the town’s anniversary\, the Radolfzell Town Museum will be showing the special exhibition “Ratoldescella – Radolfzell” from May 17\, 2026. \nThe exhibition begins with the founding of Radolfzell in 826 by Bishop Radolt of Verona. With the “Ratoldescella\,” the first ecclesiastical settlement\, he laid the foundation for today’s city. The exhibition traces his life as a religious and political figure in early medieval Europe—from Reichenau to Aachen and Rome\, and finally to Verona. Historical views and reconstructions bring the old townscape back to life. An interactive presentation of Heber’s 1708 map reveals many fascinating details about the Radolfzell area during the Baroque period. At the same time\, the exhibition also sheds light on the Radolfzell that no longer exists—from the Hölle Brewery to the “Café Achteck”—and commemorates people from Radolfzell who sought their fortune elsewhere. Their stories show how one’s homeland lives on in memory. \nThe exhibition can be seen in the Radolfzell City Museum from May 17th. It invites all visitors to embark on a multifaceted journey through the past of the town on Lake Constance. \nThe city museum is open Thursdays – Sundays from 11.00 am – 5.00 pm.

SUMMARY:Painting and writing like in the Middle Ages
DESCRIPTION:Painting and writing like in the Middle Ages \nFall Break Program with Monika Leister \nWant to copy a few pages from a book? Just head over to the copier and you’re done! But: \nHow did people manage without a photocopier? And the illustrations have to be included too\, right? Children should really enjoy writing to participate in this program! \nFor children ages 8 and up. \nFee: € 10.00\, free of charge with Zeller Karte \nPlease register by e-mail at museum@radolfzell.de.

SUMMARY:Guided Tour of the Historic City Pharmacy
DESCRIPTION:The Radolfzell City Museum is housed in a former pharmacy dating from 1689. The original dispensing room from the Biedermeier period\, the herb chamber\, and other pharmacy rooms preserved on site transport visitors back to times gone by. Architectural timelines provide insight into the building’s 300-year history across its various construction phases and illustrate how pharmacy and interior design have evolved over the centuries. The tour also takes visitors through those historic pharmacy rooms that remain closed to the public for curatorial reasons. \nHead: Jacqueline Berl\, City Museum \nFee: € 9.00 including admission

SUMMARY:The Vanished Radolfzell: Historic Monuments Between Memory and Oblivion—A Lecture by Christof Stadler\, Historian and School Principal
DESCRIPTION:Thursday\, November 12\, 7:00 p.m. \nThe Vanished Radolfzell: Historic Buildings Between Memory and Oblivion \nLecture by Christof Stadler\, historian and principal \nChristof Stadler will speak at the Friedrich-Werber-Haus on November 12 at 7 p.m. about Radolfzell’s lost and forgotten architectural landmarks. Buildings that once defined the town\, such as the “Karrensteig\,” the beach café from 1928\, or the “Café Achteck” prison\, now exist only in memories. Fires\, renovations\, and a lack of awareness led to significant losses. Historical photos showcase the once-rich architectural heritage\, featuring bay windows\, dormer windows\, and ornate shutters. Examples include the demolition of the Obertorturm in 1870 and part of the city wall in the Höllturmpassage. With every lost landmark\, a piece of the city’s history and identity disappears. \nFee: 5\,00 € \nVenue: Friedrich-Werber-Haus \nPlease register by e-mail at museum@radolfzell.de.
