Radolfzell celebrates – and looks back on more than 1200 years of eventful history. To mark the town’s anniversary, the Radolfzell Town Museum will be showing the special exhibition “Ratoldescella – Radolfzell” from May 17, 2026. <\/p>\n
The exhibition begins with the founding of Radolfzell in 826 by Bishop Radolt of Verona. With the \u201cRatoldescella,\u201d the first ecclesiastical settlement, he laid the foundation for today\u2019s city. The exhibition traces his life as a religious and political figure in early medieval Europe\u2014from Reichenau to Aachen and Rome, and finally to Verona. Historical views and reconstructions bring the old townscape back to life. An interactive presentation of Heber\u2019s 1708 map reveals many fascinating details about the Radolfzell area during the Baroque period. At the same time, the exhibition also sheds light on the Radolfzell that no longer exists\u2014from the H\u00f6lle Brewery to the \u201cCaf\u00e9 Achteck\u201d\u2014and commemorates people from Radolfzell who sought their fortune elsewhere. Their stories show how one\u2019s homeland lives on in memory. <\/p>\n
The exhibition can be seen in the Radolfzell City Museum from May 17th. It invites all visitors to embark on a multifaceted journey through the past of the town on Lake Constance. <\/p>\n
