Museum festival – 20 years of the Radolfzell town museum in the old town pharmacy<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

On May 17, the Radolfzell City Museum invites you to a special event: a museum festival that brings history to life and celebrates a milestone anniversary at the same time. The museum has been housed in the historic town pharmacy on Seetorplatz for 20 years – an occasion that will be duly celebrated. From 11.00 to 17.00, the museum will open its doors free of charge and offer a varied program for young and old. Visitors can expect a fascinating journey through time: every half hour, exciting exhibition topics will be presented in lively guided tours – from the history of the city to the pharmacy of past centuries. The focus is not only on the history of Radolfzell, but also that of the museum itself. A vivid presentation provides an insight into the renovation and relocation of the historic town pharmacy. Special guided tours take visitors into the world of pharmacy equipment from the Biedermeier period – a rare opportunity to immerse yourself in the fascinating history of regional medicine. <\/p>\n

Another highlight is the opening of the new special exhibition “ratoldescella-Radolfzell<\/em>“. The life of the town’s founder, Bishop Ratold, as well as moving stories of emigrants from Radolfzell all over the world are highlighted in entertaining impulse tours. In addition, compact short tours through the new section of the permanent exhibition provide a quick and impressive overview of the town’s history. <\/p>\n

There is also plenty for young visitors to discover: creative hands-on stations invite them to make, play and explore. Whether origami folding, a medieval hidden object picture, the museum memory or lovingly designed coloring pictures – history can be experienced in a playful way here. <\/p>\n

On the Seetorplatz in front of the museum, the youth wind orchestra and the M\u00fcnsterbauverein invite you to linger with drinks and food, while the Narrenmusik provides entertainment. Anyone looking for special memorabilia will find what they are looking for at the small museum flea market, which is run by the Radolfzell Museum and Town History Association and offers historical prints and publications. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Cabinet exhibition “Radios of the 1930s and 1940s”<\/h3>\n

From October 2 to November 2, 2025, the Stadtmuseum presented the small cabinet show “Radios of the 1930s and 1940s” in the basement of the museum to accompany the current special exhibition. It gave an impression of the radios from the time of the “people’s receiver”, which stood in living rooms and provided families with information and entertainment. Rarities such as the “Goebbelsschnauze” or a set built in Radolfzell immediately after the war were also on display. The cabinet exhibition was realized in cooperation with CompuRama Radolfzell e. V. <\/p>\n

Special exhibition on the Nazi era at Tiktok<\/h3>\n

An exciting collaboration between class 9c of the Gerhard-Thielcke-Realschule and the Stadtmuseum: after an introduction to the special exhibition “Dictatorship. War. And afterwards. Radolfzell 1933 – 1948”, the pupils created short Tiktok videos on the objects and themes of the special exhibition with the support of the city museum team and media professional Mike Lindauer from Landei Produktion. A great project on the local history of National Socialism in the classroom! <\/p>\n

On the trail of your own family<\/h3>\n

The descendants of the former owner family Ehrhardt visited the former town pharmacy on May 31, 2024. They exchanged memories, marveled at the pharmacy’s remaining furnishings and explored the permanent and special exhibitions at length. The museum team would like to thank everyone for the pleasant conversations and the stories about \u201chow it used to be\u201d! <\/p>\n

A look behind the scenes<\/h3>\n

The FSJ students’ social media project “Kultureinblicke” is in full swing. Every three weeks, they present the individual cultural departments of Radolfzell on Instagram. The posting series began on February 1 of this year.<\/p>\n

Now it’s finally the museum’s turn! Take a look at “kulturradolfzell” to get a quick overview of all the information worth knowing and soon find out more about the director of the museum.<\/p>\n

Fancy a voluntary social year?<\/h3>\n

After a long coronavirus break, the Stadtmuseum has been offering an annual FSJ position again since September 2023. If you are interested in museum work and would like to gain an insight into the planning of the next special exhibition, you are in good hands here.<\/p>\n

But that’s not the only thing: the city museum shares the FSJ position with the city library. This gives you an insight into two of Radolfzell’s cultural departments.<\/p>\n
