The Hegau becomes Baden

Thursday, May 22, 7 p.m.

Hegau becomes Baden – the turbulent years 1805 to 1810

Lecture by Wilderich Count von und zu Bodman

The Bodman landlord Baron Franz von Bodman (1775 – 1833) recorded the events of the Napoleonic Wars and the reorganization of sovereignty in Hegau in his diary. The territories of the imperial knighthood were mediatized, the knight’s house in Radolfzell was expropriated and the town of Radolfzell, together with the Landgraviate of Nellenburg, was incorporated into the Kingdom of Württemberg in 1806. This resulted in an armed uprising in Stockach and the surrounding area in 1809. It was not until 1810 that Hegau – with the exception of Hohentwiel – was assigned to the Grand Duchy of Baden.

Venue: Friedrich-Werber-Haus, Marktplatz 7 (courtyard entrance)
