August Kratt – Life and work
Lecture by Dr. Carmen Scheide
How did August Kratt behave during the years of National Socialism? How was he involved in local society in Radolfzell before and after 1945? What role did he play in the peaceful handover of the town in April 1945? Carmen Scheide presents the results of her expert report, which was commissioned in response to the demand that he be stripped of his honorary citizenship. In her lecture, Scheide presents a historical-critical analysis of August Kratt’s activities and classifies his honorary citizenship on the basis of current scientific findings. A life-world approach offers insights into the interactions between the individual and social structures, makes adaptation and resistance visible and compares Kratt with other actors of his time.
