August Kratt – Life and work
Lecture by Dr. Carmen Scheide
The businessman August Kratt came to Radolfzell in 1902, where he opened his own store in 1919, which he expanded into a department store together with his wife and family. In 1935 he was appointed as a councillor and soon afterwards deputy mayor, as he had been a member of the NSDAP since 1933. Dr. Carmen Scheide’s lecture will use the life story of August Kratt as an example to examine the local history of Radolfzell, with a particular focus on the National Socialist era.
