Guided tour through the special exhibition
Registration by 05.12.2024 to museum@radolfzell.de
In 2024, the Radolfzell suburb of Markelfingen will celebrate its 1,300th anniversary. At the same time, it is now 50 years since the six villages of Böhringen, Güttingen, Liggeringen, Markelfingen, Möggingen and Stahringen were incorporated into Radolfzell. Reason enough to focus this exhibition on the districts of Radolfzell, where around 40% of the population live today. The special exhibition “Village life. Geschichte(n) aus den Radolfzeller Ortsteilen” sheds light on the history of the villages from the first settlers to the present day. Everyday life in the independent communities was characterized by hard work in agriculture and crafts. Going to church on Sundays was just as much a part of the life of the village community as the regulars’ table in the pub and voluntary work in the club. Wars and natural disasters repeatedly presented the inhabitants with challenges. Under different rulers, the settlements grew into self-sufficient communities, each with its own character and self-confidence. Various reactions to the incorporations reflect the advantages and disadvantages of municipalization. Follow us on a tour of past village worlds, committed people and dramatic events that are also part of Radolfzell’s history.
