Guided tour of the Rauchmühle in Markelfingen

Kuno Rauch gives a guided tour of the historic mill building, which has been in his family for four generations. The “Rauchmühle”, which once bore the name “Neumühle”, is a well-preserved monument that characterizes the townscape of Markelfingen. Built around 1680, the mechanics and interior fittings of the mill are still in place today.

In Markelfingen, a millrace was built as early as 1300 along the stream leading from the Mindelsee into the Gnadensee. The village grew around the mills and is still referred to as a mill village today.
