Open Monument Day – guided tour of Homburg Castle
As part of the Open Monument Day and the special exhibition “Village life. History(s) from the Radolfzell districts”, Rudi Martin from the “Nellenburger Kreis” working group gives two guided tours of the Homburg. The lords of Homburg built a castle on the remains of glacial gravel in the 11. or They built the castle in the 12th century, which served as their manor house for a long time. The castle was repeatedly conquered and pillaged. Various local lords lived and ruled over the castle. When it fell victim to the flames again during the Thirty Years’ War, it was not rebuilt. The castle became a quarry for the surrounding farmsteads, where castle stones can still be found in the foundations today.
